JKriv
JKriv is a Brooklyn-based producer, DJ, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and label owner.
In a music career stretching 2 decades, JKriv has blazed an unconventional path through club world, beginning as a trained jazz musician and live performer before honing his studio and DJ skills.
Widely known as a co-founder of the stalwart label Razor-N-Tape, J is also a highly respected producer, prolific remixer, and incendiary DJ.
JKriv’s prolific production work has yielded scores of releases on Soundway Records, Favorite Records, Wah Wah 45s, Moton Records, Glitterbox and many other labels.
Coming off an EU summer tour that included stops at the We Out Here! Festval (UK), Heidegluhen (Berlin), Hi (Ibiza) and more, J also released prolifically in 2025, with two full EPs on Razor-N-Tape and Rocksteady Disco as well as numerous remixes and edits records.
Production & Studio Work
J brings a seasoned musicality to everything he touches, whether original productions, remixes, or reworks and edits. A trained musician, his talent for dazzling live instrumentation is evident in original productions and remixes for Glitterbox, Wah-Wah 45s, Soundway, Rebirth, Ubiquity, Razor-N-Tape and more. His studio wizardry and instrumentalist skills can be heard on music by Dimitri From Paris, Horse Meat Disco feat. Kathy Sledge, Honey Dijon and more. As the producer of the sprawling Studio 54 Music: Night Magic Vol. 1 project, J reimagined al new live recordings of disco classics, garnering over 4 million plays for the lead single Souvenirs, and he musical directs the house band of Razor-N-Tape’s A Joyful Noise live event, which has an LP coming in 2026.
In early 2025 J released his Intuition EP on Razor-N-Tape, a strong statement of the clubbier sound that now defines his DJ sets, the summer single banger Out Of Time featuring Megatronic, and followed with his Adaptation EP on Detroit’s Rocksteady Disco in October, showcasing the more soulful organic side of his work. He also had an original track included on Quantic’s K7 DJ Kicks. In 2026 will have releases on Make-A-Dance, Juliet Records and more.
Mixes, Live Sets & Radio
Like his productions, JKriv’s DJ sets showcase his deep and diverse taste, weaving eclectic disco, house, and offbeat selections together seamlessly, always with an ear for groove and harmony, and an eye to the dance floor.
A resident of The Lot Radio in NYC, each of his monthly shows are unique, weaving through current and classic sections from the Razor-N-Tape catalog and more, and his recent set for My Analog Journal has had nearly 75K plays and shows J’s deep knowledge of formative NY dance music history,
J has now featured on BBC 6 Music, NTS Radio, Openlab Ibiza, Balamii Radio, Rinse FM and hosted his own regular “Living Sounds” show on Palestinian Radio Alhara throughout lockdown.
Razor-N-Tape
As co-founder of Brooklyn label Razor-N-Tape, JKriv has had a sizable impact on both the local NY and global dance music scenes.
The label’s prolific and consistent quality output across 150+ releases over 12 years of operation has earned them eminent respect and support from club DJs, radio selectors and listeners around the world.
With a huge roster of artists such as Tom Noble’s House Of Spirits, Felipe Gordon, Midnight Magic, The Phenomenal Handclap Band, Dimitri from Paris, 79.5 and many more, RNT also has the distinction of operating their own brick and mortar store in Brooklyn for the past 2 years.
The label’s beloved A Joyful Noise night at Public Records has been ongoing for over 2 years, in which JKriv leads an ensemble of RNT-orbiting musicians for a truly hybrid live/DJ-oriented event.
Gilles Peterson, a constant supporter of the label’s output, recently praised Razor-N-Tape on his Worldwide FM show as “putting out some exceptional music recently and {doing] great events in Brooklyn and New York area.”
